A lot of us think about being an entrepreneur and the objective of an entrepreneur is to solve problems. What are you waiting for now? You have one of the biggest problems to address globally. This is the right time to start something that will really impact the lives of people. Below are a list of industries that are booming due to the coronavirus and you can start your business in any one of them.


  • Cleaning industry: Today, the requirement for a clean work space or a clean locality has increased a lot and people want the areas where they visit to be sanitised. Sanitisation of places is a burning issue to be addressed and there is a requirement of professionals who can clean office spaces, commercial shops, hospitals, local communities and residential areas which are under the containment zones.
  • E-learning industry: The e-learning industry is taking a new toll. With students and professionals caught up in their homes, either studying or working from home, the people are trying to build up new skills and learn online. This is the best time to teach people online, start tutoring sessions online, or make it easier for teachers to render the same quality of education as in a physical class.
  • Medical products industry: With coronavirus changing the habits of people and making the life's totally different, there is a need of more medical products, be it masks or gloves or sanitiser. The world is going to be in a different state post corona virus and these are some basic necessities that will be required in each and every household.
  • Delivery services: The habits of people has changed a lot. I bet most of you are ordering things online or making use of some or the other delivery service be it for medical supplies or essential food items. The requirement for a strong local supply chain has increased and therefore, entering in the logistics industry and helping manufacturers to send their products to the ultimate consumers is a real problem to be solved.
  • Software industry: With almost everything happening online, companies have started to use softwares that can help them manage their operations remotely. Not even companies but people are using more often social connection apps like house party or facebook messenger to connect with their friends and family. Any app that can help to make working remotely in your homes can make a good money at this juncture. Some examples would be Zoom, Microsoft Team, Google Meetings etc.
  • Supplement industry: The supplement industry is already worth 100's of billions of dollars and with the current need of strong immune system, a lot of people have started consuming calcium pills, vitamins, protein etc. It is the right time if you want to start your own supplement business and start supplying to offices or colonies, so that people can take them daily and be rest assured about a stronger immune system.
  • Online entertainment industry: There is no confusion why streaming services like Netflix got millions of new paid subscribers. A lot of people are turning towards online entertainment for passing their time. More and more people are seeing videos on youtube, IG tv and twitch. You plan to start your own youtube channel? Well, this is the best time to start as there is a lot of audience that is actively using the platform.
  • Supermarket industry: Do you call up a shop, and they say they are out of stock. Well, the fear of corona virus has increased the spending towards food and more and more people are keeping higher stock of supermarket supplies to have a sense of calm. The supermarkets are earning a really good amount of money in this stage. Starting a supermarket will fetch you a good opportunity and having a delivery service attached to it just puts icing on the cake.
  • Online gaming: To all the developers out there, this is the time you can put to learn to code and develop apps and finally use it to develop social games which can be played with other remotely. People are turning to these social games like Fortnite, PubG, LudoKing to pass their time and try to have some social aspect in their contained lives. More and more investors are also putting money in game development in order to capitalise on the increased customer base.
  • Online dating industry: Did you know that apps like Tinder are worth billions of dollars. Well that is true. Think about the situation now. The people are more lonely than they could ever be and this is a chance to make online dating more simple and enjoyable. If you could really make it feel special for those people, bang on, you did a great job.

    The e-learning industry will be interesting moving forward. I think a lot of schools will decide to have something in place for if/when this happens again. Agree a lot of changes coming in that field!

      Absolutely, the higher education institutions where majority of students are from countries around the world, the need for e-learning there is more as the situation of covid will be different in different countries.
